Christina Maria Aguilera (born December 18, 1980 on Staten Island, New York,
United States) is an American
pop and
rnb singer.
She has achieved four #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as two #1 albums in the
United States. She has released six albums, one of which is a compilation and three of which are studio albums:
Christina Aguilera (1999),
Mi Reflejo (2000),
My Kind of Christmas (2000),
Stripped (2002),
Back to Basics (2006), and
Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits (2008).
She has earned four Grammy awards including: Best New Artist (2000); Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals (2002); Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (2004) and; Best Female Pop Vocal Performance(2007). She also won a Latin Grammy in 2001 for
Mi Reflejo (Best Female Pop Vocal Album).
On November 19, 2005 Aguilera married music management executive Jordan Bratman. Her latest album,
Back to Basics, was released on August 15, 2006 to positive critical reception and included elements of
soul,
jazz, and
blues music.
On January 12, 2008 Aguilera gave birth to her son, Max Liron Bratman. His name translates to “Our Greatest Song” in Hebrew.
